It’s fair to say 2020 didn’t exactly go to plan for most… and that includes soccer clubs going fully professional for the first time. But despite being forced to play without the boisterous supporter from the renowned fans, Detroit made the most of the circumstances. Hosting their fledgling league’s fall championship, Le Rouge recovered from finishing second in their group to progress to the final. There they faced a rematch with fellow favorites Oakland. And though the visitors opened the scoring first, Detroit responded with three goals of their own to lift the trophy on home turf.
DESIGN STORY
The match side prominently features a rendition of the Spirit of Detroit, the famous art deco bronze statue that both sits outside the City-County building and adorns the club’s crest. The reverse has a rich gold background that includes a design inspired by the stands where the club’s famous supporters typically stand at Keyworth Stadium.
