MATCH STORY

Portugal has been pumping out world-class players for so long that it’s easy to forget that their history on the international stage is short compared to some of their fellow European powers. But they usually tend to make a splash once they actually get to major tournaments, and their grandest splash came at the 2016 Euros in France. The Portuguese barely slipped through their group as third-place finishers, then needed extra time to down Croatia in the Round of 16, penalties to best Poland in the quarters, before they downed Wales 2-0 in the semis. But just eight minutes into the final against the heavily-favored French hosts, star man Ronaldo suffered an injury that would see him subbed off 20 minutes later. The Seleção marched onward though, holding France at bay to force extra time. And it was there that substitute Eder would finally break the deadlock and give Portugal their first silverware.

DESIGN STORY

The match side of the wristband takes its inspiration from Portugal’s traditional dark red and green trimmed kits. The reverse design is based on the exterior of the main gate of the famed Palácio da Pena, the colorful castle in the Sintra Mountains outside of Lisbon.
