MATCH STORY

Despite the home side having the first home-ground advantage in the European Cup final since 1968, the underdog Blues — and just two months removed from firing their manager — managed to hold the favored Germans at bay for nearly the entirety of the match. But when Thomas Müller struck in the 83rd-minute, it seemed like interim boss Roberto Di Matteo and his side wouldn’t be able to pull off the upset. However, the legendary Didier Drogba pulled the visitors level five minutes later and shifted the momentum back in their favor. Though Juana Mata missed their first penalty and the Bavarian’s scoring their first three, a Peter Čech save and a Bastian Schweinsteiger-struck post set the stage for Droba to be the hero once again. The Ivorian converted from the spot and delivered London its first European crown.

DESIGN STORY

The match side of the wristband is inspired by the brick pattern from the West Stand facade at Stamford Bridge, while the reverse features the heraldic lion from the coat of arms of the Borough of Chelsea over top of the scepter it typically holds.
