Match Story:
LA and Philadelphia — the top two sides during the 2022 regular season — played out an instant classic at Banc of California Stadium in November of 2022. The star-studded affair saw no less than four lead changes, and was finally sent to to penalties by the Welsh legend Gareth Bale’s strike in the 128th-minute. But the hero of the night turned out to be none other than substitute goalkeeper John McCarthy, who came on when starter Max Crépeau broke his leg and was sent off for a challenge in the 116th-minute. The back-up saved two penalties in the shootout to give the new boys in Lala-land their first ever cup.
Design Story:
The match side of the wristband is similar to the art deco-inspired design of LA’s current black home strip. On the reverse is a design reminiscent of the goalkeeper kit worn by heroic Los Angeles back-up John McCarthy during the final moments of the cup final.
