Description
Match Date: May 28, 2011
Competition: UEFA Champions League Final
Location: Wembley Stadium
Match Story:
The first ever European Cup final at the new Wembley Stadium would see a rematch of the 2009 Champions League final. In it, both the Spanish and English champions from Manchester would be looking to add their fourth European crown. And despite a 34th-minute strike from Wayne Rooney canceling out Pedro’s 27th-minute opener, second-half goals from Lionel Messi and David Villa propelled the Spaniards to a 3-1 victory.
Design Story:
The match side is displayed in the Blaugrana’s traditional red and blue colors, with the circular goal markers denoting the kits worn by each side at Wembley. The reverse features the red and gold stripes of Catalonia, the fiercely-independent autonomous region in Spain in which they’ve become more than just a club.
