Match Date: May 22, 2010
Competition: UEFA Champions League Final
Location: Estadio Santiago Bernabéu
Match Story:
Having already dispatched of the likes of CSKA Moscow, Chelsea, and Barcelona on their way to the 2010 European cup final, a formidable Bayern Munich side stood in the way of Inter from lifting the trophy. Luckily, the Nerazzurri had José Mourinho at the helm. The Portuguese manager guided his side to a trademark Mourinho performance, conceding 68% of possession and allowing the Germans to outshoot his side 21 to 11. But his defense held tight and Argentine hit-man Diego Milito finished off two brilliantly executed counter-attacks to deliver the “Special One” his second European crown and il Biscione their third.
Design Story:
The match side sits above a background featuring a crouching serpent, a feature prominent in both Milanese heraldry and Inter’s own history. On the reverse of the design is a stylized interpretation of the club’s famous black and blue striped kits.
