Match Date: October 20, 2019
Competition: NWSL Playoffs
Location: SeatGeek Stadium
Match Story:
Despite being one of the longest-running professional women’s sides in American soccer, success had proven elusive for Chicago. But in 2019, the Ladies by the Lake made their deepest ever playoff run — at least to that point — after falling in four straight playoff appearances. And they got the monkey off their back against two-time-defending finalists Portland. Powered by an eighth-minute goal from 2019 golden boot winner and Australian star Sam Kerr, Chicago advanced to their first-championship final.
Design Story:
The match design takes its inspiration from the team’s frequently hooped kits, with each hoop made up of neighborhood names from each of Chicago’s nine “sides”. The reverse features a unique take on the club’s namesake, the famous four-starred flag of Chicago.
