Match Story:
For a city best known for it’s theme park attractions, Orlando has long been a hotbed for the beautiful game. And when their women’s team was announced in 2015, excitement was sky high. But despite excellent support and one of the greatest players ever in Marta, success had remained elusive on the pitch. Prior to the 2024 season, they only had qualified for the playoffs once in seven tries. But that all would change in 2024, where Orlando would hoist the regular season crown and set a new regular season points record of 60 points. That run, plus their march to the championship match, was powered by the goal-scoring exploits of Zambian sensation Barbra Banda. With 17 regular season goals and at least a goal in every round of the playoffs, including the final’s lone tally, Banda would help clinch Orlando their first league championship to go with the new regular season title.
Design Story:
One side of the design is based on Orlando’s iconic cosmically-inspired home kit unveiled during before the 2021 season. On the reverse is the match side, which includes a rendition of the Linton E. Allen Memorial Fountain found in the downtown Lake Eola and is featured in the club’s crest.
