If there’s one thing you can say about the Blues during Abromovich’s rain, it’s that he is always willing to blow it all up if it means a better chance at success. So when club legend Frank Lampard was shown the door in January with the side sitting in ninth in the domestic table, there was always still a glimmer of hope for the Pensioners. German manager Thomas Tuchel’s arrival provided just the spark the Blues needed. Not only did he propel them up to fourth in the league and take them to the FA Cup final, but he also hauled them back to the club’s third European Cup final. There they would meet fellow domestic heavyweights and current English champions Manchester City, a side heavily favored to lift their first European crown. But Tuchel’s men were prepared as ever, and a Kai Havertz goal three minutes from halftime was enough to seal the victory.
DESIGN STORY
The match side of the wristband takes its inspiration from the solid blue home strip worn during the 20/21 season and in the final against City, the goal marked by a red rose reminiscent of those that adorn their crest. The reverse features a yellow design that both pays homage to the club’s frequent away strip and mimics the roof and rafters at Stamford Bridge
