Match Story:
Announced in 2020 by a consortium of Hollywood’s biggest female power players and some of the legends of the women’s game, the Los Angeles women’s team began play in 2022 to much fanfare and record setting attendances. But the team didn’t really hit its stride on the pitch until midway through their second season. After a dropping 24 of a possible 27 points to start the 2023 campaign, they traveled to arch rivals and league-leaders San Diego for La Chanclásico. The sides went without a goal for nearly an hour before Alex Morgan set up Kristen McNabb to give the hosts the lead. But just 10 minutes later, defender Page Nielsen leveled from a corner for LA. Both sides traded blows for the remainder of the match, but it was the visitors who claimed all three points when Mary Alice Vignola scored in the 88th minute. The win launched an 8-match streak without a loss for the ladies from the City of Angels, giving them their first ever playoff birth.
Design Story:
The wristband’s sunset-hued match side is an art deco take on the club’s angelic-based name. On the reverse is a palm-adorned design inspired by the club’s inaugural away kits.
