Description
Match Date: August 10, 2024
Competition: 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Final
Location: Parc des Princes
Match Story:
Having bowed out of the 2023 World Cup before even reaching the semifinals — a first for the Americans — the 2024 Paris Olympic games presented an opportunity to reset. Under the guidance of newly recruited manager Emma Hayes, the squad was purged of many of the veteran stars and a new generation of players to finally take the reigns. Lead by the dynamic self-titled trio “Triple Espresso”, the U.S. cruised in a group featuring Germany, Australia, and Zambia. The knockouts brought an extra-time victories against Japan and Germany before a final against Brazil. Despite the tournament’s grueling schedule, Mallory Swanson’s 57th-minute run and finish was enough to give the USWNT their record fifth Olympic gold medal.
Design Story:
The wristband’s match side features a depiction of the gold medals the Americans received in Paris. The reverse is also inspired by the medals handed out during the Olympics, with a pattern reminiscent of the ribbon placed over each athletes’ head.
