Description
Match Date: September 13, 2016
Competition: U.S. Open Cup Final
Location: Toyota Stadium
Match Story:
Despite being one of the original 10 teams in major league soccer, success has been fleeting for Dallas. But the 2016 season was a special one deep in the heart of Texas. The success of a magical regular season — one that would see them capture the regular season Supporters Shield for the only time in club history — was mirrored in the Open Cup. It took penalties to knock back lower league Oklahamoa City Energy and extra time to defeat Colorado in the Round of 16. They’d then scrape by in-state rivals Houston and needed extra time again to knock out the Galaxy in the semifinals. And when finally hosting at home in Frisco for the final, a bonkers match against New England would unfold. Juan Agudelo would open the scoring for the visitors in the 6th minute, and would add the match’s last goal, too. But in between fell four Dallas goals, including a brace with Max Urruti, giving them their second piece of silverware for the campaign.
Design Story:
The wristband’s match side features a design that harkens back to the original Dallas home kit. The reverse is inspired by Dallas’ current vertical gradient home shirts, fading from red to red in a hooped pattern.
