Match Story:
The rivalry between River and their cross-town neighbors Boca is legendary, but when the two sides advanced to the final of the 2018 South American championship final, it was the first time in over 100 years that the two sides met on the continent’s biggest stage. After drawing away in the first leg 2-2, the second leg was postponed after River supporters injured several Boca players after throwing stones at their bus. To complete the tie, the second fixture was moved across the Atlantic Ocean to Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The, La banda would come back to win 3–1 in extra time in to earn their fourth South American crown.
Design Story:
The match side of the wristband is set over a design familiar to River’s supporters, with the famous red sash set over a white background. On the reverse, the design takes inspiration from River’s home ground, El Monumental.
