Competition: 1990/91 FA Cup Final
Location: Wembley Stadium
Match Story:
The 1990/91 FA Cup provided some moments of joy for supporters during what was another ho-hum, “Spursy” season. Powered by some amazing moments from mercurial talisman Paul Gascoigne — including a semifinal win over rivals Arsenal at Wembley — the Lillywhites found themselves in the final against a tough Nottingham side lead by the legendary Peter Clough. The final itself proved to be a lightning rod, with “Gazza” having to be carted off following two rash challenges against Forest players in the opening 15 minutes of the match, the second of witch saw Stuart Pearce curl home the match’s opening goal. And with star striker Gary Lineker having one goal flagged off and another saved from the penalty spot before halftime, it looked like things were going “Spursy” in the Cup, too. But the North London side found their feet again in the second half, leveling 10-minutes after halftime through a well-worked team goal from Paul Stewart. The match would end level, forcing an extra time where Forest defender Des Walker fumbled a flicked corner into his own net, gifting the Lillywhites the trophy.
Design Story:The match side of the design inspired by the home kit they wore during the cup final, featuring the club’s traditional sash behind six stars symbolizing their six league titles. The reverse is also based on an LA kit, taking it’s cues from their throwback-inspired away strip introduced before 2024 season.
