Match Date: December 7, 2013
Competition: MLS Cup Final
Location: Sporting Park

Match Story:
Kansas City’s rise to the league’s elite marks one of American soccer’s greatest modern success stories. Fending off threats of relocation, the team found new local ownership, rebranded, and built their own stadium which is now home to one of the country’s most intimidating atmospheres. And in the 2013 season, they capped off the dramatic rebirth with cup silverware at home. Despite falling behind in the second half to the visitors from Salt Lake, club favorite Aurélien Collin equalized 14-minutes from the final whistle to force the match into extra time. Both sides would threaten in the bonus periods but neither would convert. And it would take 10 rounds of penalties to decide the winner, with Collin once again converting the winning kick after some big stops from captain Jimmy Neilsen.

Design Story:
The match side of the wristband takes inspiration from the club’s original, rainbow-covered kit. The reverse, featuring a light blue argyle over a navy blue background, pays homage to their post-rebrand identity.
