Though it had been four years since they had lifted the inaugural league championship, reaching the championship final in 2017 seemed like destiny for Portland. Despite finishing second in the regular season, they — along with fellow finalists North Carolina — were the runaway favorites that year. And they were determined to bring another championship home to Oregon. A single goal would be enough to crown the league’s best team, and it came via American international Lindsay Horan just five minutes after half time and earning the midfielder MVP honors for the match.
The match side of the design is bounded by a bed of roses and depicts Mt. Hood as viewed from Portland. The reverse features an interwoven series of thorny rose stems, paying homage to the Rose City.
