For many, the thought of professional soccer flourishing in Kentucky sounded absurd. But following runs to the semifinals in each of their first two seasons and a regular-season crown in their third — fueled on by a spirited supporter base — Louisville had proven themselves a power in the American lower leagues. But having finally gotten over the semifinal hump in 2017, the Boys in Purple felt they had more to prove. And it took nearly all of the 90-minutes on their home diamond to prove themselves, as Cameron Lancaster’s 88th-minute strike was enough to give the Kentucky club the first trophy.

DESIGN STORY

The match side sits atop bourbon barrel design, paying homage to the region’s spirit of choice. The reverse takes some of the most famous on-pitch architects of Louisville’s 2017 title run and places their faces into a design inspired by the vaulted lobby ceiling of the famed Louisville Palace Theater.
