With one of the most passionate and visible supporter bases in world football, pride for the Colombian national team has long run deep. And they’ve had a long line of names familiar to fans around the world such as Carlos Valderrama, Iván Cordoba, Radamel Falcao, and James Rodríguez to name a few. And it was a side inspired by that last star man that took Los Cafeteros to one of their more memorable recent victories in the Round of 16 of the 2014 World Cup. Facing off against fellow South American power Uruguay with talents like Cavani and Forlán, it seemed a tall order. But a brace bagged either side of halftime by James — including a 25-yard wonder volley in the 28th minute — was enough to seal Colombia’s furthest ever advancement in a World Cup.
DESIGN STORY
The match side of the wristband is inspired by Colombia’s early earthy orange and sashed away kits, which also incorporates a pattern reminiscent of arhuaca mochila bags popular in the country. The reverse incorporates Colombia’s mountainous terrain into a design meant to replicate the national flag.
