Match Story:
As recently as 2009, Monterrey had zero North American championship crowns. But by the time Rayados met rivals Club América in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League final, they now had had four continental trophies in their trophy cabinet. But América’s seven titles is more than any other club on the continent, and they were hungry to add their first since 2016. Luckily for Monterrey, they got off to a flying start playing at home in front of their own supporters at home at Estadio BBVA. A 9th minute finish by Argentine-born Mexican international Rogelio Funes Mori got them going. And while that might have been too early of a goal for some sides to defend, Rayados somehow managed. And in doing so, they picked up their fifth Champions League trophy.
Design Story:
The match side of the wristband takes its inspiration from the club crest, forming a giant “M” over the width of the match. On the reverse, the familiar white and blue stripes that have famously adorned their kits.
