MATCH STORY

With a side full of players that plied their trade across Europe’s greatest teams, the Nigerians really shouldn’t have been the surprise of the 1998 World Cup. But that’s exactly what they were when they topped a Group D featuring Spain, Bulgaria, and Paraguay. The most famous of the results came in their first match of that tournament against a star-studed Spanish side. Hierro struck first for Spain in the 21st minute, but the Nigerians were back level three minutes later via Mutiu Adepoju. The Spanish would again retake the lead two minutes after halftime via Raúl. But the tide would turn for the Super Eagles in the 73rd courtesy of an own goal Spanish captain and goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta. Then five minutes later, Sunday Oliseh found the back of the net to give Nigeria arguably their greatest ever win.

DESIGN STORY

The match side of the wristband takes its inspiration from the team nickname of the Super Eagles. The reverse features a pattern meant to pay homage to some of Nigeria’s most iconic kits.
