Description

Match Date: October 3, 2007
Competition: 2007 U.S. Open Cup Final
Location: Pizza Hut Park

Match Story:
If there’s one thing New England knows about soccer, it’s determination and never giving up. That was on full display when the club won its first major piece of silverware in 2007 in the Open Cup. After dispatching of lower league sides Rochester and Harrisburg in their first two rounds, they would need extra time to beat the Carolina Railhawks after falling behind in the 6th minute of the semifinal. And a real battle would await the Revs in the final, where they would face their first first division opponent of the tournament: Dallas. New England would strike first through Pat Noonan in the 21st minute, only to see the Hoops level 9 minutes later. Taylor Twellman would put them in the lead for good in the 41st minute and Wells Thompson would add what would prove to be a vital third 12 minutest after halftime. They would then have to ride out a nervy final 25 mintues after Dallas pulled another back. But that aforementioned determination would shine through, giving New England their first piece of major silverware for their trophy cabinet.

Design Story:
The match side of the design takes its inspiration from New England’s 24/25 home kit and its intertwined red and white pinstripes. The reverse features a design that leans heavily on the club’s long-lived original crest, the iconic “Crayon Flag”.
