Description
Match Date: May 26, 1999
Competition: UEFA Champions League Final
Location: Camp Nou
Match Story:
Two of football’s most iconic sides met at the Camp Nou in May of 1999: the English title holders and the champions of Germany from Munich. And thanks to a Mario Basler’s 6th-minute strike, it looked as if the Germans giants might be the ones to be named the champions of Europe. But two injury-time strikes from second-half substitutes Teddy Sherringham and Ole Gunnar Solsjkær flipped the match on its head and helped the Red Devils to their second European title and complete the first English treble.
Design Story:
The match is displayed prominently on the black side of the wristband and features a yellow and green halftime stripe harkening back to the club’s early color scheme. The reverse side in red spotlights a pattern inspired by the famous strip the team wore away from Manchester from 1990-1992.
